Major Announcement - The original Ingersoll Mickey Mouse watch is back!
25 May 2011
History
The original 1933 Mickey Mouse watch is being re-launched at the International Jewellery Fair, Sydney August 2011 by West End Collection. It features the original style and packaging, however uses the latest materials and technology.
On the first day of its launch in 1933 Macy's department store in New York sold 11,000 watches. Nothing before this time matched this marketing phenomena.
By 1935 Ingersoll had sold 2,500,000 Mickey Mouse watches, a very good start to what is now the best know watch in the world!
The Mickey Mouse watch success was unprecedented, and by 1957 the 25,000,000th watch was personally presented to Walt Disney himself.
Today
There are two ranges : the Disney Classic Collection, and the Mickey Mouse 30's Collection.
Disney Classic Collection
Initial range of 16 models - to expand to 26 all are based on the look and style of Disney watches as they were from the 1950's through to the 70's.
Targeting teenagers and adults with an adult mid market price strategy the watches are packaged in themed Tins to attract a retro fashion customer. There is appeal to children of course however this is not a low end self service character offer.
Mickey Mouse 30's Collection
Ingersoll produced the first character watch in 1933 and this collection of four items is our tribute to these early days of Character Product Marketing. This is an elite collection appealing to Timepiece enthusiasts and collectors. A specialist display stand reflecting the 30's era presents the range in all its glory.
